Adele Seltzer / Mixed Media / Stinson Beach
Painter, printmaker and metal sculptor.
Adele Seltzer is a painter, printmaker and metal sculptor. Her work has been inspired by her interest in archeology and her connections with nature.
She uses monotype, drypoint, painting, and the mixed media process of layering to create depth and space. The dark and light build the foundation for her abstract works. Her sculpture is an outgrowth of her works on paper and the paintings on canvas.
Adele received a B.S. and M.S. from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Fine Arts from San Jose State and continued her studies in art at Stanford University working with Nathan Olivera.
She has taught painting and the monotype process and has participated in more than forty invitational and competitive exhibitions. A selected exhibition was featured on the East Coast at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Adele has also been represented in galleries in Washington D. C., Markel Fine Arts in New York City, and Gallery B. Haasner is Wiesbaden, Germany. Her work has been exhibited locally at the San Jose Museum, the de Saisset Museum, the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, the d.p. Fong and Spratt Gallery in San Jose and Palo Alto Art Center and Bryant Street Gallery in Palo Alto. The SFMOMA Artists Gallery, Sculpturesite in San Francisco and Claudia Chapline Gallery in Stinson also represents her work. She has exhibited her paper, canvas and metal work at the Bolinas Museum in a solo exhibition in February 2008. Her work is also in many private and public collections both in the United States and Europe.
