Inverness musician Bart Hopkin is a master inventor of unusual musical instruments. Sound Chamber is a kinetic sound installation that invites visitors to interact with innovative musical forms and structures hand-crafted from wood and metal. By doing so, they surround themselves in an immersive, multi-layered musical soundscape. Performer, composer, craftsman and educator, Bart Hopkin specialized in ethnomusicology at Harvard in 1974 before receiving a B.A. in music education from San Francisco State University. He is the author of books and manuals on musical instrument design, director of the Experimental Musical Instruments organization, and produces publications and CDs that share the work of innovative instrument makers worldwide.
