This is an aerial photograph of the Burning Man site after intense rains. It is from a new body of work, Lake Lahontan/Lake Bonneville, recently released as a new book published by Radius Books. The book is included with the photograph. All images were made from Light’s aircraft above 500 feet in Utah and Nevada.
A Guggenheim Fellow, Michael Light’s landscape projects have been exhibited globally. His work is in the collections of major museums worldwide including SFMoMA; Victoria & Albert Museum, London; the Getty; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Selections from his Full Moon series were included in the Cosmic Wonders exhibition at the Bolinas Museum this past winter. He lives in Bolinas and San Francisco.
