Terry Bell (1946 - 2017)
Puppet / Juggler
1973 - 1975
Bolinas artist Terry Bell followed a quirky path, creating work mixed in media, theme and character. Small in size, his art is engaging, filled with puns, expertly crafted, and refreshingly unpretentious. As if exploring the porous boundary between dream and awakening, each piece evokes a tiny universe with an infinite space within. Terry was trained as an artist in the 1960s at Drake University in Iowa. He settled in Bolinas in the early 1970s.
Bolinas Museum presented an exhibition of Terry Bell’s art April 8- June 11, 2017, curated by Wayne Campbell. “Terry Bell was known for his astute conversations about hardware, paint, literature, film, music or other points of interest. But few knew what a fine artist he was—from whimsical drawings, to handsomely crafted works in wood.” ~ Wayne Campbell
