Curtis Fields (1921 - 2008)
Plant Forms w/ Berries II
2000
Curtis Fields was a painter, printmaker, and graphic designer who had studios in both San Francisco and Bolinas. This monotype with barbed-wire and berry vines features his design sensibility, bold colors, and natural subject mater indicative of Bolinas.
In 1960 Fields moved to California with formal art training from Yale University to fulfill his role as the creative director of an advertising agency. 20 years later he was able to devote himself full-time to painting and print making, and his work ranged from abstract paintings to series of landscapes, swimming pools, and figurative portraits entitled “Social Notes.”
