Alan Giovannetti: Progressions

February 5 - April 3, 2022

Curated by Elia Haworth

Using intuition, honed skills, and wild imagination, Alan Giovannetti creates impeccably finished, lost-wax cast jewelry, along with small abstract sculptures of cast bronze or found objects. Primarily working in silver, with materials that range from quartz and diamonds to taxidermy glass eyes, tiny carved skulls, or beach glass, his unusual, award-winning jewelry has graced the hands of icons of rock, jazz, and television from Miles Davis to Red Foxx.

A San Francisco native, by the late 1960s, Giovannetti’s designs led him to work with Sam Paul Gee in his famous North Beach shop, where stars of society flocked to find the unusual and startling. He later ran his own jewelry gallery in Sausalito. Since 2000, Giovannetti has lived quietly in Bolinas and creates simply for the pleasure of creating.
