Bolinas-Stinson School Pinhole Camera Project

March 29 - June 1, 2014

Curated by Elia Haworth and Jennifer Gately

Pinhole photographs taken by Bolinas-Stinson School students created with cameras made from vintage suitcases. For more than ten years, teacher Don Jolley had taken his Bolinas-Stinson School 8th grade students on a learning adventure to the desert of Joshua Tree National Monument. Using scientific thinking and close observation of the changing environment, students capture stunning images of Joshua Tree’s otherworldly landscape by day; then, like so many early American photographers before them, carefully hand-process each image by night. This exhibition features a selection of photographs from the class of 2012.
