Bolinas-Stinson School Student Exhibition:

Art is Our Superpower

January 13 - January 28, 2024

Curated by Nuria Lee Martinez

This delightful annual exhibition presents Bolinas-Stinson School student art in the museum setting, giving space and attention to each imaginative creation. This year, the school’s exhibition theme is “cultivating equity, expression, and community.” Arts education is dynamic and contributes to creativity, validating the student’s emotional needs and life experiences. Learning in the arts helps students nurture a positive self-image while building social connections and offers a safe space to explore critical issues.

The outstanding Art Shops Program at Bolinas-Stinson School was established in 1974, and throughout its fifty-year history, it has continued to gather both state and national recognition for excellence. Inspired teachers nurture every student to explore their creative voice through painting, textiles, wood and metal work, ceramics, and more. Whatever the future interests of these students may be, art in their childhood schooling will enrich their lives. It builds confidence in their vision, originality, collaborative abilities, thinking outside convention, personal expression, and openness to explore. All of these are elements of their superpower.
