Johanna Case-Hofmeister: Photographs
June 30 - August 12, 2012
Curated by Lucy Van Sands Seeburg
These photographs are a narrative of obsession with beauty, vulnerability, family tragedy, and surrealism in everyday life. They are meant to describe difficult emotions, a foreshadowing of death, and it’s aftermath. The photographs were made in Bolinas and New England in the past year.
Johanna Case-Hofmeister lived and made photographs in Bolinas from 2006 – 2011. Originating from rural upstate New York, she has always been drawn to remote and reclusive places. She was living in Bolinas at the time she was invited to have an exhibition.
She is currently pursuing a MFA in photography at Yale University and received her BFA from SUNY Purchase in 2004.
