Steven Brock: Faces of Myanmar

April 9 - June 5, 2022

Curated by Elia Haworth

The resiliency of the human spirit shines in photographer Steven Brock’s images of people in the many cultures where he has lived and traveled. In 2015 he traveled in Myanmar (formerly Burma) just as a civilian government replaced a military dictatorship and brought hope for a long dreamed of democracy. Today, a harsh reversal of freedoms in Myanmar is in the news. The richly colorful images in this exhibition capture moments in the daily lives of ordinary Myanmar people who now face an uncertain future.

Steven Brock divides his time between Inverness and his San Francisco studio for photography and traditional Italian hand bookbinding. Here in coastal Marin, Brock mentored the Gallery Route One Latino Photography Project for ten years. His own silver, platinum, and color photographs are in collections around the world.
