Kay Ryan is a Pulitzer Prize winning poet, former United States Poet Laureate, MacArthur Fellow, teacher and Marin resident. Marie Dern liked her friend Kay Ryan’s distinct handwriting, and used digitally formed printing plates of Ryan’s written poems to print single pages of paper, which are held in a handcrafted box made by John De Merritt.
