Inez Storer (b. 1933)
The Cloud Carrier
2000
Coastal Marin artist Inez Storer layers oil paints, mixed media and ephemera to create her unique and playful art. Her paintings combine fantasy, personal history, and social commentary. A prolific artist, working on canvas, paper and in assemblage, her work is engaging, often enigmatic, childlike in style but underlain with sharp perceptions and sophisticated vision.
Storer received her B.A. from Dominican University and M.A. from San Francisco State University. She has been deeply involved in the Bay Area arts and taught at the San Francisco Art Institute, Sonoma State University, San Francisco State University and the College of Marin. Her solo exhibitions have been presented in museums throughout the United States and her work is in the permanent collections of institutions including the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Oakland Museum of California, and the Lannan Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. Storer lives in Inverness, California and maintains a studio in Point Reyes Station.
