In conjunction with the photography exhibition Nuestra Identidad / Our Identity, this talk will share insights into The Latino Photography Project, established in 2003 by Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station. The project has been a powerful tool for creativity, exploring identity, sharing experiences, and cross-cultural understanding. Mentored by professional photographers, participants share elements of the immigrant experience and their individual vision. Their photographs have been seen in a bilingual PBS documentary, Latinx Photography Project, and local and national exhibitions. The speakers will include project organizers, the new co-directors of the project, and some of the photography students talking about the impact of the project and the practice of photography on their own lives and those around them.

En conjunto con la exposición fotográfica Nuestra Identidad / Our Identity, esta charla compartirá ideas sobre The Latino Photography Project, establecido en 2003 por Gallery Route One en Point Reyes Station. El proyecto ha sido una poderosa herramienta para la creatividad, exploración de la identidad, compartiendo experiencias y entendimiento intercultural. Bajo la tutela de fotógrafos profesionales, los participantes comparten elementos de la experiencia del inmigrante y su visión individual. Sus fotografías han sido vistas en un documental bilingüe de PBS titulado, Latinx Photography Project, así como en exposiciones locales y nacionales. Los ponentes incluirán a los organizadores del proyecto, los nuevos co-directores del proyecto y algunos de los estudiantes de fotografía que hablarán sobre el impacto del proyecto y la práctica de la fotografía en sus propias vidas y en las de quienes los rodean.
