The Hard Part is Silence: Herbert Pföstl in Conversation with Elia Haworth

Sat. June 24, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm This event has passed

Austrian artist, writer, and translator Herbert Pföstl will discuss his art practice and working with words. The conversation will reveal Pföstl’s influences and inspirations, including the explorations and testimonies of early, often anonymous, masters; the hallucinatory hieroglyphic drawings of Antonin Artaud; Pföstl’s obsession with farewells in American “revenant sounds” from the 1920s and 1930s; Melville’s Pierre and Albert Pinkham Ryder’s broken paintings; Simone Weil’s notebooks and Emily Dickinson’s fragments; and the inimitable works of Hercules Segers and Hans Jürgen von der Wense.
