Bolinas Museum: 30 Years of History
May 4 - June 23, 2013
Curated by Elia Haworth
For three decades Bolinas Museum has enriched Coastal Marin and its visitors. Exhibitions have featured outstanding local and internationally known artists, natural history, fine art photography and thought-provoking installations celebrating local history. The museum was originally established in 1983 as the Bolinas Memorial Museum, dedicated to preserving the history of the town. Within a few years fine art was added to the mission statement with a focus on the rich pool of artists living in the Coastal Marin communities.
With the support of many members, private donors and grants—even a dollar in the donation box—and the invaluable help of hundreds of volunteers, the Museum has grown and been refined year after year. Today Bolinas Museum presents an average of 20 new exhibitions a year among its five galleries, along with free courtyard concerts, receptions, tours, talks, public celebrations, and important fundraising events. It is because of volunteers, dedicated staff, and community supporters like you that the Bolinas Museum is able to offer excellent exhibitions and programs and to welcome everyone with free admission to the Museum and its many events.
This exhibition presented highlights of pivotal events in the Museum’s development.
