This exhibition features a powerful selection of photographs and paintings by Consuelo Kanaga drawn from the collection of Bolinas resident and collector Susie Tompkins Buell. Consuelo Kanaga is best recognized for her honest and soulful images depicting individuals struggling for civil rights, beginning in the 1930s. It has been said that Kanaga celebrated the human in every photo she took, whether it was images of sharecroppers and their homes in the South or a simple still life of flowers. Buell is well known for her passion for empowering women and the under served, she is also a great supporter of the community.
