An intallation of life size figures surround the viewer in this exhibition by the Marshall, California artist. My paintings and monoprints have been called “a crepuscule of the sexual imagination.” That may be but this series of paintings, the Wishbones, came to me from the simple joy of roast chicken. I started collecting the wishbones of my victims, enjoying them for the beauty of their form and for the happy association of good luck and a fine supper. When I began the paintings based on my talismans, I immediately left the literal object and painted the emotional landscape—figures dancing to a beat of hope, ecstasy, despair and possibility.
