Patricia Yenawine: Fired Up!
June 16 - August 12, 2018
Curated by Elia Haworth
Potter Patricia Yenawine’s handsome sculptural vessels are shaped by her artistic skill, and colored by the mysterious play of fire or chemical interactions within a kiln. Her stoneware salt-glazed vessels and tableware are fired in a gas kiln beside her studio. She also fires in an anagame kiln—a Japanese name for an ancient wood-firing technique where flames, smoke, heat, and ash swirl throughout the kiln leaving organic patterns of color and shading. Yenawine began working in clay in New York in the 1980s before settling in Bolinas.
