Sally K. Fairfax: Ice and Glass

May 8 - August 15, 2021

Curated by Elia Haworth

Inspired by her many trips to the Arctic and Antarctica, Inverness glass artist Sally K. Fairfax creates images of polar bears and ice that highlight one of the most significant environmental issues of our time—the rapid melting of our planet’s ice caps. Deeply invested in natural resource policy, Fairfax is a distinguished professor emerita of environmental science, policy, and management at the University of California, Berkeley. She began working with glass in the 1970s and this exhibition displays her current use of diverse techniques to create works of practicality, pure aesthetics, or social commentary.
