Sean Thackery / Venice: A Meditation

Bolinas photographer Sean Thackrey is a connoisseur of life and creativity. Like his taste palette when creating his famous Thackrey wines, his artistic eye savors what is richly nuanced and subtle. His photography is the fruit of 60 years of patient attention and consistent inspiration. This exhibition expresses his prolonged meditation on the mysteries of Venice, Italy, as revealed in the faces of its stones and walls. Expressed in large format, scroll-like images of nuanced light and texture, these abstractions are objects of contemplation, to be quietly viewed with an attentive mind.

Sean Thackrey has been a photographer since age fifteen. Trained in art history, he co-owned Thackrey & Robertson Gallery in San Francisco for 25–years; a pioneering gallery devoted to 19th and 20th–century prints, drawings, and photographs with an international clientele. He is a long time Bolinas resident.
