Carl Dern saw winter trees as figurative, expressive, and as individual as human form. For many years he created sculptures and drawings of various sizes depicting leafless trees. Here Marie and Carl collaborated to create an homage to trees in winter. The folding “screen” and metal tree come nestled in delicate Japanese paper and fitted into a wooden box.
