Michelle Yi Martin

Michelle Yi Martin is a multidisciplinary artist who creates sculptural textiles that capture a strong sense of linear movement and depth. Yi Martin’s work is rooted in the progressive traditions of the Bauhaus and Black Mountain College. She is an educator who brings together history, literature, and the arts with her students. Her work has been exhibited broadly across the Bay Area, the US, and internationally, including a recent Bolinas Museum exhibition entitled Curious Gestures: Michelle Yi Martin & Johanna St. Clair. 

Yi Martin was a Black Mountain College contributing artist and grand prize finalist for the Craft and Design Biennale in Copenhagen. In 2025, she received the San Francisco Bay Area Artadia Award.
