Ornate inkwells with pen holders were a common accent to nice homes. A nib of varying sizes was placed in the pen and then dipped into the container of ink as needed. This set was donated by Floyd Longley, and likely belonged to his grandparents Frances (Briones) Nott and her husband Samuel Clark who were leaders in early Bolinas and Marin County.
