Swinging off the Inman
1909
While workers were salvaging what they could, many visitors came out to visit the wreck of the R.D. Inman, a steam schooner headed for Portland when it wrecked on Duxbury Reef just two years after it was launched. Intrepid Gertrude and this young woman sat in the bosun’s chair to be lifted up to the deck and lowered back down to the reef.
